Aker BP aims to be the exploration and production company of the future by transforming the way we work and operate. We are setting new standards by focusing on safe production and low emissions in the oil and gas industry.

We have big plans- do you want to join us?

This position is part of our Cybersecurity Operations team. We are responsible for preventing, monitoring, detecting, investigating, and responding to Cybersecurity threats across Aker BP's information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) environments.

Our core responsibility is detection and response, but our work extends beyond traditional security monitoring. Penetration testing, purple teaming, threat hunting, OT and IT security monitoring, and security architecture are all important parts of how we identify exploitable attack paths and focus our efforts where they have the greatest impact.

In this position you will help us rethink and develop these activities as automated and agentic workflows. Aker BP is a fast-moving organization, and Cybersecurity must enable the organization to move quickly while maintaining safety and managing risk. This requires technical understanding and the ability to distinguish actual security risk from general best-practice recommendations.

Aker BP is becoming an AI-first organization. This will influence both the security challenges you work with and how you perform your daily work. Cybersecurity Operations is at the forefront of developing agentic workflows, automation and Policy as Code, to improve the speed, quality, and consistency of our security operations.

This is a hands-on technical role. You will be expected to explore systems, analyze logs and telemetry, investigate suspicious activity, test security controls, develop detections and automations, and contribute technical improvements directly. You should enjoy understanding how technologies work beneath the surface and be comfortable moving between investigation, engineering, testing, and continuous learning.

Typical work tasks can be:

  • Lead or contribute to the technical investigation and response of complex Cybersecurity alerts and incidents across IT and OT environments.

  • Develop and improve security monitoring, detection rules, response playbooks, threat-hunting activities, and automated or agentic workflows.

  • Perform security assessments through technical security reviews, penetration testing, purple teaming, and analysis of exploitable attack paths.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external security partners to design, improve, and assure the quality of security services and solutions.

Skills and qualifications:

  • A degree in Cybersecurity, information technology, computer science or a related discipline. Relevant professional experience and hands-on technical certifications can compensate for formal education.

  • Relevant experience in one or more cybersecurity disciplines such as incident response, threat hunting, security monitoring, purple teaming, penetration testing, security architecture, infrastructure security, or DevSecOps.

  • Experience with log analysis, security automation, scripting, software development, Infrastructure as Code, Policy as Code, GitHub, agentic workflows, or similar engineering practices is an advantage.

  • An interest in applying AI and agentic workflows to Cybersecurity operations, combined with a willingness to explore and adopt new ways of working.

  • Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Norwegian language is an advantage.

The successful applicant will be given the necessary training to succeed and develop further in the role. We are interested in what you have built, investigated, tested, automated, or improved. In your application, we encourage you to describe practical examples of your technical work and the role you played.

We think you will thrive in Aker BP if this resonates with you:

  • Our SAFER values are the foundation for everything we do. Working with us means identifying with being Seekers, Accountable, Foreseeable, Engaged and Respectful.
