Production resumes on Tambar

On Tuesday, production started up again on the Tambar field following the accident on Maersk Interceptor on 7 December.

The Maersk Interceptor is currently drilling wells on the Tambar field. The accident took place just after 12 noon on Thursday in connection with maintenance work on the rig. One employee of Maersk Drilling passed away. Another person, also a Maersk Drilling employee, was seriously injured.

Production on Tambar was shut down on Thursday afternoon to ensure a calm atmosphere, thus allowing full attention to be devoted to handling the accident.

Project activities, well service activities and other activities that are not related to investigation of the accident on Maersk Interceptor will gradually resume in a controlled manner. As a step in this work, production from the Tambar field was started up again on Tuesday.

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway and the police are investigating the accident. Aker BP and Maersk Drilling have also started their own investigation.
