Need to have

  • Possesses a relevant M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field (Marine, Structural, Energy, Process Engineering).

  • Comfortable using AI tools/copilots and keen to apply them to engineering work to work smarter.

  • Must be based in Norway and legally authorized to work for the full duration of the program.

  • Strong English communication skills and willingness to learn Norwegian.

  • Willingness and ability to travel offshore sporadically.

  • A strong commitment to safety, compliance, and ethical conduct, aligning with Aker BP's SAFER values and safety-first culture.

  • Demonstrates a strong ability to apply mechanical engineering principles to diagnose and solve complex real-world operational challenges, focusing on pragmatic outcomes.

  • Genuine curiosity about how mechanical equipment works and fails, preferring to solve real physical problems.

  • Relevant practical experience (internships, thesis) in oil & gas, energy, maritime, or process industries, especially related to rotating machinery, cranes/lifting, structures, materials, integrity, or reliability.

  • Working knowledge of engineering software (e.g., CAD, FEM) and data analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Power BI) and exposure to SAP or condition-monitoring principles.

  • Clear and concise communication skills, comfortable engaging with technical and operational teams.

  • Ability to cope with ambiguity and incomplete data in a fast-paced operational environment.

  • Asset support
    Provide day-to-day mechanical engineering support across our producing assets, focusing on rotating equipment and/or cranes & lifting.

  • Offshore exposure
    Gain hands-on experience with critical mechanical equipment through sporadic offshore trips, engaging with operational teams.

  • AI & Data insights
    Apply data analysis and AI tools to solve tangible technical problems in mechanical equipment operations, from predictive maintenance to anomaly detection.

  • Failure analysis
    Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on failure investigations and root-cause analyses for critical mechanical equipment.

  • Project contribution
    Contribute to modification and improvement projects, helping maintain equipment documentation and standards compliance.

Your journey in Mechanical Engineering

    Work with pumps, compressors, gas turbines, and other vital machinery that forms the heartbeat of our production.

  • Cranes & Lifting
    Ensure the safety and reliability of our safety-critical lifting equipment and operations.

  • Mechanical integrity
    Support condition-monitoring, vibration analysis, and integrity management activities to prevent failures.

  • Maintenance optimization
    Review maintenance programs, spare-part criticality, and work orders to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Digitalization & AI
    Collaborate with our digital teams to deploy AI for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and faster root-cause analysis.

  • Engineering support
    Respond to engineering queries on equipment condition, performance, troubleshooting, and operating limits.
