Background check and affiliation assessment in the recruitment process:

Background checks will be performed, following consent from relevant candidates. We ask that you enclose your diploma/grade transcript with your application.

An assessment of affiliation to high-risk countries is carried out as part of the recruitment process for all positions in Aker BP:

  • All applicants will be asked to answer three questions as an initial screening of affiliations to high-risk countries*.
  • If the answer to any of these questions is YES, an additional questionnaire will be sent to candidates who disclose affiliation AND are selected to proceed in the process.

The affiliation assessment is solely based on non-discriminatory categories of information and does not involve direct differential treatment due to the candidate's ethnicity or other protected characteristics. The assessment of affiliation to high-risk countries is not an assessment of the candidate's ethnicity or national origin, but an assessment of how closely the candidate is tied to the country through factors such as citizenship, family relations, financial assets, or other connections. Candidates with such connections may pose a potential security risk to Aker BP because such candidates may be more vulnerable to exploitation or recruitment by foreign threat actors.

*The definition of high-risk countries is based on Norwegian security authorities' identification through their annual threat assessment and AkerBP security risk assessment. To address and mitigate this risk for the company and personnel, we wish to map candidates ́ affiliation to high-risk countries
