Advanced Reservoir Engineer – Digital Tools & Ensemble Reservoir Modelling

This position is part of the Reservoir Engineering community in Aker BP. We have the responsibility for delivering high-quality reservoir engineering support to our assets, strengthening ensemble-based reservoir modelling workflows, and developing digital tools that improve efficiency, quality and decision support across the business.
Typical work tasks can be:
- Develop, maintain and improve digital tools and workflows for reservoir engineering, including Python-based applications, Streamlit apps, Nitro solutions, GitHub repositories, automation, and AI-enabled / agentic workflows that can improve efficiency, quality and decision support.
- Support assets with quality control of ensemble reservoir modelling from the reservoir engineering perspective, ensuring consistency, traceability and technical robustness.
- Establish and further develop guidelines, standards and best practices for post-processing of ensemble-based reservoir modelling.
- Work closely with reservoir engineers, geoscientists, data scientists and asset teams to strengthen digital ways of working and improve the use of ensemble data in recommendations and decisions.
Skills and qualifications:
- Higher education within reservoir engineering, petroleum engineering, applied mathematics, physics, data science or similar. Relevant experience can compensate for formal education.
- Solid reservoir engineering experience, preferably with exposure to field development, production forecasting, uncertainty analysis and/or reservoir simulation.
- Experience with ensemble reservoir modelling, including quality control, post-processing, interpretation and communication of uncertainty.
- Strong digital skills, including practical experience with Python, Streamlit and GitHub. Experience with Nitro, automation, AI-enabled workflows or agentic digital solutions is an advantage.
- Interest in developing robust, user-friendly tools and workflows that can be adopted across teams and assets.
- Ability to translate technical reservoir engineering needs into practical digital solutions.
- Good understanding of data handling, visualization and use of data as basis for recommendations and decisions.
- Experience in applying digital and agentic AI solutions to extract greater value from reservoir understanding, including faster interpretation, improved decision support, and better use of uncertainty-aware data.
- Fluent or good abilities in English and Norwegian, both verbal and written.
